After a fairytale wedding at Highclere Castle that went off without a hitch, and a hectic few days running post-wedding errands and preparing for the honeymoon, our car has finally arrived to start us on our dream honeymoon journey.
I had decided to surprise my new wife with a fancy car (although to be fair, it was as much a treat for me as for her):
The flight was fully packed, and didn’t get off to a great start when a screaming baby was seated behind us, and showed no signs of shutting the f*ck up. Fortunately, take-off seemed to placate the child, and she was quiet for the rest of the flight.
We settled down with our drinks to enjoy the flight. Exhaustion from the past few days soon overtook us, and we slept for most of the flight. We awoke to breakfast, and some of
the most beautiful landing scenery I’ve ever seen:
Male (where we had a short stopover before continuing to Colombo), is a tiny airport, despite being the capital of the Maldives. It has only a single runway, and after we had landed, our plane spun around in its own length before heading back up the runway to the terminal!
After a short drive from the airport, we checked into our first hotel, Jetwing Sea, and spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool and enjoying views of the sea, which was literally less than 30m away.
It’s just a fleeting stay in Jetwing Sea, and tomorrow we have an early start to drive to Sigriya!
Can’t wait, but for now, it’s time to get some rest…!
